Nelson Save Center Update

WOW! It’s really looking like a Service and Volunteer Education Center now (whatever that’s supposed to look like!).  Katie and Cindy Nelson stopped by last week to pick out carpet and flooring colors and decide on placement of the tribute area to permanently honor Larry’s well-lived life.  The two-story center will indeed be a fantastic addition to MP’s Borland Family Distribution Center.

The lower level will house a large multi-purpose service and learning room with wireless audio/video capabilities, kitchenette, maintenance/laundry room, two restrooms and two other storage areas.  The mezzanine level features a large storage and work area plus an Operations office.

2016 MasterPro Golf Classic

On Saturday, Sept 10, 30 teams of 4 joined us for the 2016 Larry Nelson MasterPro Golf Classic. The golf outing presenting sponsor was Dole, and many other sponsors donated to help us fund the Larry Nelson SAVE (Service & Volunteer Education) Center. The SAVE Center construction at the MP Warehouse will start in October and will provide a place for training, education and volunteerism at Master Provisions.

The day started off with a great luncheon catered by Smokin’ This & That BBQ and a variety of raffles.

Mobile Food Pantry a Blessing for Both Recipients and Volunteers

It was a very warm and sunny 80 degree morning, but that didn’t stop many from attending the June Mobile Food Pantry. Both recipients and volunteers showed up early for what turned out to be a great day.

We got the opportunity to speak with multiple volunteers at both the Covington and Ludlow locations, and a common theme emerged: serving at the event was actually a blessing for them as much as it was for those receiving the food.

IMG_6921Cindy works volunteer registration at the Covington location and told us she had been doing it for 3-4 years.

Night of Worship

On Sunday, August 14th the Florence Freedom will be hosting a “Night of Worship” featuring local worship bands, local pastors, and the famous Christian band, HAWK NELSON. Tickets are $13 for the game, but with only a $5 upcharge (making the tickets $18), you not only get on the field to enjoy the concert, but that $5 will go back to Master Provisions and The Brighton Center.

The concert is opened up to anybody in the area. Come as a church, come as a youth group, come with some friends, or come with your family, we welcome everyone!
