How it all started...
In 1994, God called a farmer
and a telephone man together to begin ministry to the millions of
people in Ukraine. In the first few post-Communist years, the 5,000
coupons that could have once bought a new car turned into 5,000 coupons
for a loaf of bread. Ukrainians lost their life savings and could
not afford to clothe their families.
Into such disastrous situations, MASTER Provisions brings hope, using
clothing as the tool to assist the church. We ship containers full of
good used clothing and shoes to accomplish God's purposes.
The fourfold mission of MASTER Provisions is to:
- Create Jobs
- Empower the Local Church
- Provide Affordable Clothing
- Offer Short-Term Missions Opportunities

Fasting From Shopping
The following unsolicited testimonial is from a MASTER Provisions supporter in Michigan:
I got involved with a MASTER Provisions Clothing drive a couple years ago and it really opened my eyes to a few things:
I have so much in my closet that I do not need. In US standards, I might not have as much as others, but compared to people in other countires, I really have an abundance. I have several changes of clothes - I could change my outfit probably 2 -3 times a day, and still have enough to wear for a few days before needing to do a load of laundry.
After recognizing the excess in my closet, I cleared out a lot of stuff, and have since then been living more simply. I recently also fasted from shopping for clothing and it has given me a sense of freedom from materialism. I would rather spend what money might a gone towards shopping to more eternally significant investments. I am still on my fast, and it's been probably about 5 months.
My challenge to those who might think this clothing drive is not directly effective in West Michigan:
1. Spread the word about the challenge and talk about how rich we are in this country, how much excess we really have. Team up with your neigbors and friends and gather all the excess you can donate. It should be contagious, this mindset and realization that we need to stop storing up treasures in our closets.
2. Get involved with the drive - go to one of the drop off sites organizing the collection and packing of the clothes, and help pack. It is fun! When you work together with others, sharing the same goal, it has an amazing effect on our hearts and builds the community.
Try it, and go beyond just your closet!
